R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of McAllen is celebrating the 100th |
|
|
anniversary of the McAllen Fire Department with a series of events |
|
|
from June 7 to 10, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The festivities begin on June 7 with open houses at |
|
|
Fire Stations 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6, at which members of the public may |
|
|
tour each station and meet with firefighters; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On June 8, the commemoration continues with a parade |
|
|
of fire trucks and a community day at West Side Park; here, visitors |
|
|
may witness demonstrations of auto extrications, rappelling, and an |
|
|
air evacuation landing; there will also be a safety display, games |
|
|
for children, and a cook-off; the celebration culminates on June 10 |
|
|
with the presentation of a proclamation from the city council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1913, the dedicated and courageous |
|
|
firefighters of the McAllen Fire Department have devoted themselves |
|
|
to protecting the lives and property of their fellow citizens, and |
|
|
this unique event represents a fitting opportunity for area |
|
|
residents to show their appreciation to the department; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary celebration |
|
|
of the McAllen Fire Department and recognize the members of the |
|
|
department for their hard work and commitment; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the McAllen Fire Department as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
