R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Katherine Moore of Ben Milam Elementary School was |
|
|
named the 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the McAllen |
|
|
Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Moore holds a bachelor's degree from the |
|
|
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in |
|
|
special education from The University of Texas at Austin; although |
|
|
she initially planned to study Biblical archaeology, she was |
|
|
inspired to change her career path while teaching children as part |
|
|
of a volunteer effort in Israel; on being accepted into the Teach |
|
|
For America program, she was assigned to McAllen Memorial High |
|
|
School, where she taught for three years before joining the staff of |
|
|
Ben Milam Elementary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A veteran educator with 17 years of experience, Ms. |
|
|
Moore has brought to the classroom great enthusiasm for her chosen |
|
|
field and for the district that she calls home; she strives to |
|
|
instill in the young people in her fifth-grade class a love of math, |
|
|
science, and reading, and she enjoys the challenge of creating a |
|
|
positive learning environment that empowers students with learning |
|
|
disabilities to achieve their full potential; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her resourcefulness and unwavering |
|
|
dedication to her work, Katherine Moore exemplifies the qualities |
|
|
that make a truly outstanding teacher, and her receipt of this |
|
|
prestigious accolade is indeed well deserved; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Katherine Moore on her selection as |
|
|
the 2013 McAllen ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
