R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An honorable and purposeful life drew to a close
  with the passing of Dabiruddin Ahmed Khan of The Colony on March 29,
  2012, at the age of 70; and
         WHEREAS, Dabir Khan was born on February 11, 1942, in
  Azamgarh, India, to Mohammed Amin Khan and Zubedah Khatoon; one of
  nine children, he lived with his family in Para, India, until the
  age of 10, when he moved to Pakistan to attend school while staying
  with his brother and sister-in-law; he continued his education at
  some of the premier technical academies in the country during his
  high school and college years; and
         WHEREAS, In 1972, Mr. Khan immigrated to the United States to
  attend North Central Texas College, and after completing an
  associate's degree, he moved to Dallas and began working as a
  manager of a Schepps Food Store; there, he met his future wife,
  Loretta, and the pair exchanged vows in 1976; they shared a
  rewarding union of more than 35 years, which over time was further
  blessed with two children, Sami and Sarah; and
         WHEREAS, Two years after their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Khan
  relocated to Durant, Oklahoma, where he entered Southeastern
  Oklahoma State University and subsequently earned a degree in
  industrial technology; he then returned to Dallas and continued to
  build on his knowledge by taking courses in computer science; in the
  early 1980s, his technical skills won him a job as a mainframe
  programmer at Dedman Memorial Hospital, now known as Dallas Medical
  Center, setting off a career that would span 22 years; another major
  milestone in his life came in 1983, when he was granted American
  citizenship; and
         WHEREAS, He ended his career as a network engineer in 2004 but
  emerged from retirement four years later to work as a photo
  technician at a Walmart store in The Colony, where he served until
  the time of his death; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Khan deeply enjoyed
  spending time with his wife and children, and he was delighted at
  the birth of his granddaughter, Sophie, in 2010; he was known for
  his charming demeanor, intelligence, sense of humor, and
  generosity, and his favorite pastimes included watching Hollywood
  movies and Korean soap operas and cheering on his favorite teams,
  the Cowboys and Mavericks; and
         WHEREAS, Through his hard work and determination, Dabir Khan
  led a life that exemplified the American dream, and he will always
  be remembered with great fondness and admiration by all those who
  were fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dabiruddin Ahmed
  Khan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Loretta Khan; to his children, Sami Khan and his wife,
  Wendi, and Sarah Khan; to his granddaughter, Sophie Khan; to his
  cousin, Fakhruddin Ahmed; to his dear friend, Cody Hobbs; to his
  nephew, Arif Khan, and niece, Saba Siddiqi; to his sister,
  Mahmoodah Khatoon; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dabir Khan.
