R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Denton Chamber of Commerce presented Dr. Bettye
  Myers with its 2013 Otis L. Fowler Award, the organization's most
  prestigious honor; and
         WHEREAS, A kinesiology professor at Texas Woman's
  University, Dr. Myers has shared her time and talents with many
  Denton institutions; she served on the board of the Denton public
  school system from 1985 to 1991, including four years as board
  president, and she helped to organize the Flow Health Care
  Foundation annual banquets for more than a decade and a half; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Myers was recognized in 2011 with the Texas
  Woman's University Distinguished Alumni Award, and the United Way
  of Denton County recently paid tribute to her with the inaugural Dr.
  Bettye Myers Humanitarian Award; moreover, the Denton Independent
  School District named its new middle school campus in her honor; and
         WHEREAS, The strength of our communities depends on
  individuals like Dr. Bettye Myers, whose tireless work in behalf of
  area organizations has contributed immeasurably to the quality of
  life in Denton; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Bettye Myers on her receipt of
  the Otis L. Fowler Award from the Denton Chamber of Commerce and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Myers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
