R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lake Cities Storm, a Special Olympics team based |
|
|
in North Texas, has been awarded a $4,500 grant from the CoServ |
|
|
Charitable Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The philanthropic arm of CoServ Electric, the CoServ |
|
|
Charitable Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to |
|
|
improving the quality of life of area residents through community |
|
|
service initiatives and financial support for deserving civic |
|
|
groups; the foundation is supported by donations from electric and |
|
|
gas utilities customers as well as employee-led fund-raisers and |
|
|
payroll deduction pledges; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This grant, which will help to allay the team's |
|
|
travel expenses, is the most recent in a series of contributions |
|
|
that the CoServ Charitable Foundation has made to the Lake Cities |
|
|
Storm; composed of athletes of all ages and from cities throughout |
|
|
the area, this multitalented team trains and competes in such |
|
|
diverse sports as basketball, bocce, softball, and bowling; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lake Cities Storm program gives numerous young |
|
|
people opportunities to develop physical fitness and demonstrate |
|
|
their abilities while also making friends and gaining |
|
|
self-confidence, and this grant is indeed a worthy investment in a |
|
|
truly meaningful cause; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Lake Cities Storm on its |
|
|
receipt of a grant from the CoServ Charitable Foundation and extend |
|
|
to all those associated with the team sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Lake Cities Storm as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
