R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Jackie McBroom is retiring as assistant superintendent for educational services for the Sanger Independent School District on June 30, 2013, concluding a distinguished career in education that has spanned nearly three decades with Denton County schools; and

WHEREAS, Beginning his career as a high school coach in Gainesville, Florida, Mr. McBroom subsequently moved to North Texas and joined the faculty of Aubrey High School in 1984 as an English teacher and coach; his distinguished 29-year tenure in the area's three school districts has also included service as a middle school principal and as an athletic director in Pilot Point, as chair of the English department at Sanger High School, and as principal of Linda Tutt High School; in addition, he served as a trustee on the Aubrey ISD school board for nine years; and

WHEREAS, This dynamic educator and administrator was named Sanger High School's Teacher of the Year in 2003; in his capacity as assistant superintendent, he has contributed significantly to Sanger ISD's earning a "recognized" rating from the Texas Education Agency, with select campuses being rated "exemplary"; and

WHEREAS, Through his broad experience and unwavering commitment to excellence, Jackie McBroom has greatly benefited the students of Denton County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he prepares to embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jackie McBroom on his retirement from the Sanger Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. McBroom as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
