R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Iris McCauley Jones of Center is celebrating her |
|
|
90th birthday on May 31, 2013, to the delight of her family and |
|
|
friends; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1923 in San Augustine County, the former |
|
|
Iris McCauley married Melvin Jones on October 25, 1941, and they |
|
|
raised three children, Wanda, Linda, and Tommy; over the course of |
|
|
their 55-year marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Jones took great pleasure in |
|
|
spontaneously embarking on leisurely road trips; although Mr. Jones |
|
|
passed away in 1996, today Mrs. Jones shares in the love and |
|
|
affection of four grandchildren, Kent Hanszen, Brooke Paddie, Lee |
|
|
Jones, and Jessica Page, and eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, |
|
|
Emily, Sam, Iris, Christopher, Noah, Linda, and Dawson; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For many years, Mrs. Jones handled all the |
|
|
accounting duties for the family business; now retired, she enjoys |
|
|
playing bridge, sewing and doing other needlework, and spending |
|
|
time with her family and friends, who know her as "Gals"; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Iris Jones holds a special place in the hearts of her |
|
|
loved ones, and she may indeed reflect with satisfaction on nine |
|
|
decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Iris Jones on her 90th birthday and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
