R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Megan Ruthardt of Groom High School achieved great
  distinction by participating in the University Interscholastic
  League Track & Field State Meet on May 10, 2013, in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, This talented young Texan was a state qualifier in
  both the 1A Division 2 long jump and the high jump, two events that
  took place at almost the same time at opposite ends of the Mike
  A. Myers Stadium, where the meet is held; as a result, she had to
  walk the length of the facility between jumps with little time to
  rest and recuperate; and
         WHEREAS, Despite this challenge, Ms. Ruthardt recorded a
  distance of 15 feet, 9.75 inches, in the long jump to claim sixth
  place; in the high jump, she cleared 4 feet, 8 inches, and finished
  eighth; and
         WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete as one of the elite
  track and field athletes in the Lone Star State, Megan Ruthardt has
  ably represented her school, and she may indeed reflect with pride
  on her notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Megan Ruthardt on competing in the
  2013 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Ruthardt as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
