R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Megan Ruthardt of Groom High School achieved great |
|
|
distinction by participating in the University Interscholastic |
|
|
League Track & Field State Meet on May 10, 2013, in Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This talented young Texan was a state qualifier in |
|
|
both the 1A Division 2 long jump and the high jump, two events that |
|
|
took place at almost the same time at opposite ends of the Mike |
|
|
A. Myers Stadium, where the meet is held; as a result, she had to |
|
|
walk the length of the facility between jumps with little time to |
|
|
rest and recuperate; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Despite this challenge, Ms. Ruthardt recorded a |
|
|
distance of 15 feet, 9.75 inches, in the long jump to claim sixth |
|
|
place; in the high jump, she cleared 4 feet, 8 inches, and finished |
|
|
eighth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete as one of the elite |
|
|
track and field athletes in the Lone Star State, Megan Ruthardt has |
|
|
ably represented her school, and she may indeed reflect with pride |
|
|
on her notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Megan Ruthardt on competing in the |
|
|
2013 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ruthardt as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
