R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The friends and family of U.S. Army Private First
  Class Genaro Bedoy of Amarillo suffered an immeasurable loss with
  the death of this valiant soldier on September 16, 2012, at the age
  of 20; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 52nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker
  Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, based at Joint Base
  Lewis-McChord in Washington, Private Bedoy was killed in an attack
  on a checkpoint in Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Genaro Bedoy was the son of Jose Bedoy and Veronica
  Quiroz; born in Amarillo, he attended River Road High School; he was
  a receiver and defensive back on the football team and impressed his
  coach with his courteous manner and sense of principle; he
  graduated in 2010 and joined the army a few months later, fulfilling
  a longtime dream; and
         WHEREAS, This patriotic Texan trained in Fort Benning,
  Georgia, before his deployment to Afghanistan; over the course of
  his military career, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and
  skill, as well as natural leadership ability; his many decorations
  included the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service
  Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on
  Terrorism Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Private Bedoy was joined in
  matrimony to the former Patricia Chavarray in November 2011, and he
  became the proud father of a daughter, Sofia; he was a loyal friend
  and enriched the lives of his loved ones through his kind and caring
  ways; in his free time, he loved cooking and playing video games,
  and he was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos; and
         WHEREAS, Genaro Bedoy exemplified the highest ideals of the
  U.S. armed forces, and although he is deeply missed, his courage
  and determination to protect his family and his country remain a
  lasting source of inspiration; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First Class
  Genaro Bedoy and that sincere condolences be extended to the
  members of his family: to his wife, Patricia Bedoy; to his daughter,
  Sofia Bedoy; to his parents, Jose Genaro Bedoy and Veronica Quiroz;
  to his sisters, Valera Quiroz and Alexa Pulcher; to his brothers,
  Christopher Bedoy, Cesar Quiroz, Saul Quiroz, and Nathan Pulcher;
  to his grandparents, Jose Bedoy and his wife, Maria Abigail, and
  Ofelia Berajarano; to his stepmother, Norma Pulcher; and to his
  many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private
  First Class Genaro Bedoy.
