R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Celeste Alyse Martinez of Robstown has been named a |
|
|
2013 Gates Millennium Scholar; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, |
|
|
this program selects 1,000 talented minority students each year to |
|
|
receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college |
|
|
or university; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Martinez, the daughter of proud parents Cirildo |
|
|
and Annette Martinez, has earned straight A's throughout her high |
|
|
school career and is graduating as the valedictorian of the Class of |
|
|
2013 at Robstown High School; she is also a talented musician who |
|
|
has distinguished herself as a member of the marching band; |
|
|
moreover, she has juggled her studies and extracurricular |
|
|
activities all while working 38 hours a week to help with family |
|
|
finances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this |
|
|
highly motivated young Texan, and she may reflect with pride on her |
|
|
impressive accomplishments as she looks forward to a future bright |
|
|
with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Celeste Alyse Martinez on being |
|
|
named a 2013 Gates Millennium Scholar and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
