R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, During the 83rd Legislative Session, Maria Isabel |
|
|
Soto has ably served in the office of State Representative Armando |
|
|
Walle through the University of Houston Hobby Fellows program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Soto is a member of the first class of the Hobby |
|
|
Fellows legislative internship program; building on her previous |
|
|
service as an intern for Representative Eddie Lucio III and Senator |
|
|
Eddie Lucio, Jr., Ms. Soto has worked tirelessly for Representative |
|
|
Walle to research and analyze legislation concerning child welfare, |
|
|
women's health, workforce conditions, public education, quality of |
|
|
life and other issues vital to the people of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Soto recently graduated from the University of |
|
|
Houston with a bachelor of arts degree in political science; she has |
|
|
been active with the SkillsUSA program, helping prepare high school |
|
|
students to participate in a mock legislative session at the State |
|
|
Capitol for the past four years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, When most legislative staff were packing on their |
|
|
first ten pounds in March, Ms. Soto managed to find the time and |
|
|
energy to finish her first half-marathon, with a time of 1:50:44; |
|
|
never one to slow down, Ms. Soto has never held fewer |
|
|
than two jobs |
|
|
at the same time since entering college; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|
|
duties as a legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and |
|
|
she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Maria Isabel Soto for her service as a |
|
|
legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Armando |
|
|
Walle and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in |
|
|
all her future endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Soto as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
