R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Matthew McDougal, a participant in the Texas
  Legislative Internship Program, has rendered outstanding service
  in the office of State Representative Eric Johnson during the 83rd
  Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1990 and administered by the Mickey
  Leland Center on World Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern
  University, TLIP provides a unique opportunity for students from
  Texas colleges and universities to serve as interns in the Texas
  Legislature, state agencies, and local government offices; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Jennifer McDougal and the late Jimmy
  McDougal, Matthew McDougal earned a bachelor's degree in sports
  management from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010; at UT, he
  served as vice polemarch for the Iota Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha
  Psi Fraternity, Inc., and was an active member of Student Leaders
  Pursuing Law; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McDougal is currently enrolled at the Thurgood
  Marshall School of Law, where he has served on the James M. Douglas
  Board of Advocates and as the executive treasurer of the Student Bar
  Association; he previously interned with the United States District
  Court for the Northern District of Texas, helping to prepare bench
  memoranda and conducting extensive legal research on a variety of
  civil and criminal cases; and
         WHEREAS, Performing his duties in the office of
  Representative Johnson with skill and dedication, Matthew McDougal
  has greatly benefited the constituents of House District 100, and
  he is indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Matthew McDougal for his service as a
  legislative intern in the office of State Representative Eric
  Johnson and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
  in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. McDougal as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
