R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Katie Lanier of Allen High School has been named the |
|
|
2012-2013 Allen Independent School District Secondary Teacher of |
|
|
the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanier began her notable 12-year career in |
|
|
education at Plano East High School; she subsequently taught |
|
|
fifth-grade math and science at Kerr Elementary School from 2002 to |
|
|
2004, when she joined the staff of Allen High School as a physics |
|
|
teacher; she also leads courses on scientific research and design |
|
|
and the principles of technology; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for her innovative practices, Mrs. Lanier |
|
|
employs a "flipped classroom" format; she has students watch her |
|
|
recorded lectures at home and complete their assignments at school, |
|
|
which allows her to provide them greater personalized attention and |
|
|
to focus more class time on activities such as labs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Serving as role models, motivators, listeners, and |
|
|
mentors, the best educators bring to their work creativity, energy, |
|
|
and resourcefulness; Katie Lanier is one such teacher, inspiring in |
|
|
her students a love of learning that will serve them well throughout |
|
|
their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Katie Lanier on her selection as |
|
|
the 2012-2013 Allen ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Lanier as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
