R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Johnny Ringo has distinguished himself in his work
  as the head football coach and athletic director at Plano East
  Senior High School, and he is indeed deserving of recognition as he
  concludes his tenure with the Plano Independent School District;
  and
         WHEREAS, Coach Ringo graduated from The University of Texas
  at Austin, where he was a talented receiver on the Longhorn football
  squad that won the 1983 Southwest Conference championship; he
  started his coaching career one year later at Austin Westlake, and
  he went on to lead high school teams in Uvalde, Coppell, and Irving
  and to serve on coaching staffs at UT, Texas Tech University, and
  Southern Methodist University; his gift for developing innovative
  offensive systems is credited with influencing many high school
  programs to adopt pass-oriented spread formations after decades of
  focusing on their running game; and
         WHEREAS, During his nine seasons at Plano East, Coach Ringo
  led the Panthers to the playoffs five times, and his 2006 team was
  one of the top four in school history, posting a record of 10 wins
  and 3 losses and advancing to the regional round of the postseason;
  and
         WHEREAS, Widely respected by his peers, Coach Ringo has
  garnered numerous accolades; he was named Dallas Morning News Coach
  of the Year in 1999 and has been selected District Coach of the Year
  three times and Dallas Cowboys High School Coach of the Week on four
  occasions; in addition, he was a member of the Gatorade Coaches Care
  Honor Roll in 1994 and was listed in the MaxPreps compilation of the
  top 100 high school coaches in the United States in 2006; he served
  as president of the Texas High School Coaches Association from 2012
  to 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
  excellence demonstrated by Johnny Ringo have been a positive
  influence on the young athletes he has guided at Plano East and the
  other schools where he has worked, and he may reflect with pride on
  his many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Johnny Ringo for the outstanding
  leadership that he has demonstrated in guiding the football team
  and athletic program at Plano East Senior High School and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Ringo as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
