R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Amarro Nelson, a participant in the McClendon
  Scholars Program, has provided valuable support as a legislative
  intern in the office of State Representative Ruth Jones McClendon
  during the 83rd Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 2004, the McClendon Scholars Program,
  which is also known as the UTSA Legislative Scholars Program, is a
  collaborative initiative between Representative McClendon and The
  University of Texas at San Antonio; the program gives students who
  have an interest in public policy the opportunity to work as interns
  at the State Capitol during legislative sessions; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson holds a bachelor's degree in political
  science from George Washington University; while in college, he
  coordinated numerous service projects and helped raised more than
  $10,000 for the betterment of the Washington, D.C., community, and
  he took part in the Pioneer Student Leadership Academy; currently a
  graduate student in sociology at UTSA, he has gained important
  experience in state government to draw on in his future endeavors;
  among the major projects in which he was involved was the effort to
  pass a measure to prevent the spread of infectious diseases; and
         WHEREAS, Appreciated for his wit and genial personality,
  Amarro Nelson has greatly benefited the constituents of House
  District 120, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his fine
  work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Amarro Nelson for his service as a
  McClendon Scholar in the office of State Representative Ruth Jones
  McClendon and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Nelson as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
