R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Amarro Nelson, a participant in the McClendon |
|
Scholars Program, has provided valuable support as a legislative |
|
intern in the office of State Representative Ruth Jones McClendon |
|
during the 83rd Texas Legislature; and |
|
WHEREAS, Created in 2004, the McClendon Scholars Program, |
|
which is also known as the UTSA Legislative Scholars Program, is a |
|
collaborative initiative between Representative McClendon and The |
|
University of Texas at San Antonio; the program gives students who |
|
have an interest in public policy the opportunity to work as interns |
|
at the State Capitol during legislative sessions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson holds a bachelor's degree in political |
|
science from George Washington University; while in college, he |
|
coordinated numerous service projects and helped raised more than |
|
$10,000 for the betterment of the Washington, D.C., community, and |
|
he took part in the Pioneer Student Leadership Academy; currently a |
|
graduate student in sociology at UTSA, he has gained important |
|
experience in state government to draw on in his future endeavors; |
|
among the major projects in which he was involved was the effort to |
|
pass a measure to prevent the spread of infectious diseases; and |
|
WHEREAS, Appreciated for his wit and genial personality, |
|
Amarro Nelson has greatly benefited the constituents of House |
|
District 120, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his fine |
|
work; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Amarro Nelson for his service as a |
|
McClendon Scholar in the office of State Representative Ruth Jones |
|
McClendon and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Nelson as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
