A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to life support services provided by certain emergency |
|
|
medical services personnel. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Sections 773.003(1) and (2), Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(1) "Advanced life support" means [emergency] |
|
|
prehospital care that uses invasive and noninvasive medical acts |
|
|
that an emergency medical technician-intermediate, an emergency |
|
|
medical technician-paramedic, or a licensed paramedic is |
|
|
authorized to preform and includes the performance of an advanced |
|
|
patient assessment in a situation in which the assessment is |
|
|
required to determine whether the medical acts are necessary. |
|
|
(2) "Basic life support" means [emergency] |
|
|
prehospital care that uses invasive and noninvasive medical acts |
|
|
that an emergency medical technician-basic or an emergency care |
|
|
attendant is authorized to perform. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act take effect immediately if it receives a |
|
|
vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receives the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
