A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the disbursement of county funds to a person owing |
|
|
delinquent property taxes. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 154.025(a), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, |
|
|
fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with |
|
|
the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether |
|
|
reduced to judgment or not. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 154.045(a), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, |
|
|
fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with |
|
|
the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether |
|
|
reduced to judgment or not. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
debt for which a notice of indebtedness is filed under Section |
|
|
154.025(b) or 154.045(b), Local Government Code, on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. Debt for which notice of indebtedness is |
|
|
filed before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law |
|
|
in effect when the notice was filed, and the former law is continued |
|
|
in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
