A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the provision of home-taught driver education courses |
|
|
by state agencies. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 521.205, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) A state agency may not develop or provide a driver |
|
|
education course, including course materials, under this section |
|
|
directly or through contract. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by Section 521.205, |
|
|
Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to a |
|
|
driver education course approved under that section for which |
|
|
materials are purchased on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
A course for which materials are purchased before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date course |
|
|
materials were purchased, and that law is continued in effect for |
|
|
that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
