A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the provision of fire prevention or fire-fighting
  services by certain emergency services districts.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 775.031, Health and Safety Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
         (b-1)  A district that was formerly a rural fire prevention
  district that is not otherwise prohibited by statute from providing
  fire prevention or fire-fighting services may provide those
  services.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act is a
  clarification of existing law and does not imply that existing law
  may be construed as inconsistent with the law as amended by this
  Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
