A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to information that must be included on prepaid calling |
|
|
cards. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 55.253, Utilities Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The commission by rule shall require each prepaid |
|
|
calling card company to include on every prepaid calling card sold |
|
|
in this state, in reasonably legible type, a statement informing |
|
|
consumers of the option to file a complaint with the commission and |
|
|
of the toll-free telephone number established by the commission for |
|
|
the purpose of providing additional information regarding the |
|
|
complaint process and for receiving complaints. |
|
|
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|
|
of this Act, but not later than January 1, 2014, the Public Utility |
|
|
Commission of Texas shall adopt rules as required by Section |
|
|
55.253(e), Utilities Code, as added by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
