A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requirements for state educator certification |
|
|
examinations. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.048(a), Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The board shall propose rules prescribing comprehensive |
|
|
examinations for each class of certificate issued by the board. The |
|
|
rules must: |
|
|
(1) require each educator to perform satisfactorily on |
|
|
each section of an examination for an educator to be considered to |
|
|
have performed satisfactorily on the examination as a whole; and |
|
|
(2) establish for each examination a rigorous minimum |
|
|
score indicating satisfactory performance. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Not later than January 1, 2014, the State Board |
|
|
for Educator Certification shall propose rules relating to |
|
|
certification examinations as provided by Section 21.048(a), |
|
|
Education Code, as amended by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
