A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the registration of boat trailers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) Not later than January 1, 2014, the Parks |
|
|
and Wildlife Department and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles |
|
|
shall enter into a memorandum of understanding that: |
|
|
(1) identifies a procedure by which a person may |
|
|
register or renew a registration for a boat trailer with the Parks |
|
|
and Wildlife Department concurrently with a registration for a |
|
|
certificate of number or the renewal of a certificate of number for |
|
|
a boat; |
|
|
(2) establishes a plan for sharing records and |
|
|
personnel necessary to implement Subdivision (1); and |
|
|
(3) provides for the distribution of costs for |
|
|
administering this Act. |
|
|
(b) Not later than March 1, 2014, the Parks and Wildlife |
|
|
Department and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall adopt |
|
|
rules to implement the provisions of the memorandum of |
|
|
understanding described by Subsection (a). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2014. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
