A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to increasing funding for the basic allotment under the |
|
|
Foundation School Program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 42.2526 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 42.2526. FUNDING FOR BASIC ALLOTMENT FROM GENERAL |
|
|
REVENUE. (a) The amount by which the comptroller reduces the |
|
|
amount transferred to the economic stabilization fund to prevent |
|
|
the amount in the fund from exceeding the limit in effect for that |
|
|
biennium under Section 49-g(g), Article III, Texas Constitution, |
|
|
shall be transferred by the comptroller to the Foundation School |
|
|
Program for the purpose of funding the basic allotment. The |
|
|
transfer shall be made not later than the 90th day of each fiscal |
|
|
year. |
|
|
(b) The amount described by Subsection (a) is in addition to |
|
|
other amounts appropriated by the legislature for the purpose of |
|
|
funding the basic allotment. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
