A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing school districts |
|
to create school security districts and impose ad valorem taxes for |
|
crime prevention measures; authorizing a tax. |
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 3, Article VII, Texas Constitution, is |
|
amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
(f) The Legislature may permit a school district to create |
|
a school security district and impose a school security ad valorem |
|
tax for the purpose of providing crime prevention measures, |
|
provided that the school district is required to obtain voter |
|
approval of the creation of the school security district and the |
|
imposition of a school security ad valorem tax. A school security |
|
district may be governed in the manner provided by general law. |
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2013. |
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing school |
|
districts to form school security districts and impose ad valorem |
|
taxes for crime prevention measures." |
