SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of San Antonio in honoring the life, struggles,
  and great accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of
  the nation's greatest civil rights leaders, on the occasion of
  the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Wreath-Laying
  Ceremony, which is being held January 20, 2013; and
 
         WHEREAS, The ceremony is taking place in King Plaza,
  located at the intersection of North New Braunfels Avenue and
  East Houston Street; during this event, citizens of all races and
  religions come together and lay wreaths in front of the statue of
  Dr. King to celebrate his legacy; and
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. King dedicated his life to achieving
  nonviolent social change, and he maintained that it is far better
  to love than to hate, that one should seek justice rather than
  revenge, and that one should refrain from acts of violence
  against any person, group, race, or religion; and
 
         WHEREAS, The San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr.
  Commission and other organizations holding commemorative
  functions are to be commended for their dedication to the memory
  of Dr. King; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby join the citizens of San Antonio as they
  honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a
  wreath-laying ceremony and commend them on their commitment to
  the principles of justice and equality for all; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the City of San Antonio in honor of this special day.
