SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 12
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Christopher Barry
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Christopher Barry, who
  died December 13, 2012, at the age of 65; and
         WHEREAS, Chris Barry was born on November 5, 1947, in
  Blakely, Georgia; he became a highly regarded academician and
  served as a professor at the University of Florida, The
  University of Texas, and Southern Methodist University; in 1988,
  he joined Texas Christian University, where he served with
  distinction for many years and became known as an expert on Third
  World markets; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Barry held the Robert and Maria Lowden Endowed
  Chair in Business Administration at Texas Christian University's
  M. J. Neeley School of Business; as professor emeritus, he
  continued to expand his knowledge of economics and perform
  research in a wide variety of fields; in spite of the malady that
  plagued him in his last years, he consistently sought to achieve
  a greater understanding of the universe, and the courage he
  showed throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew
  him; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Barry was a brilliant scholar who was
  dedicated to research, and his passion for learning amazed those
  around him; he was also a generous and kindhearted person who had
  a positive impact on the lives of innumerable people and was
  deeply devoted to his wife, Gayle, his two children, Renee and
  Brent, and his five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, warmth, and wisdom, Chris
  Barry embraced both life and his faith with equal fervor; he was
  beloved by many, and he will be greatly missed by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Christopher Barry; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Christopher Barry.
