Christopher Barry |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Christopher Barry, who |
|
|
died December 13, 2012, at the age of 65; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chris Barry was born on November 5, 1947, in |
|
|
Blakely, Georgia; he became a highly regarded academician and |
|
|
served as a professor at the University of Florida, The |
|
|
University of Texas, and Southern Methodist University; in 1988, |
|
|
he joined Texas Christian University, where he served with |
|
|
distinction for many years and became known as an expert on Third |
|
|
World markets; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Barry held the Robert and Maria Lowden Endowed |
|
|
Chair in Business Administration at Texas Christian University's |
|
|
M. J. Neeley School of Business; as professor emeritus, he |
|
|
continued to expand his knowledge of economics and perform |
|
|
research in a wide variety of fields; in spite of the malady that |
|
|
plagued him in his last years, he consistently sought to achieve |
|
|
a greater understanding of the universe, and the courage he |
|
|
showed throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew |
|
|
him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Barry was a brilliant scholar who was |
|
|
dedicated to research, and his passion for learning amazed those |
|
|
around him; he was also a generous and kindhearted person who had |
|
|
a positive impact on the lives of innumerable people and was |
|
|
deeply devoted to his wife, Gayle, his two children, Renee and |
|
|
Brent, and his five grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, warmth, and wisdom, Chris |
|
|
Barry embraced both life and his faith with equal fervor; he was |
|
|
beloved by many, and he will be greatly missed by all who were |
|
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Christopher Barry; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Christopher Barry. |
