SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 70
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Thurma G. Rigmaiden
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Thurma G. Rigmaiden,
  who died January 8, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Thurma Rigmaiden was born in Liberty to Elisha and
  Dora Green; she attended Phillis Wheatley High School and earned
  bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Southern University;
  she was married to L. M. Rigmaiden; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Rigmaiden enjoyed a long and fruitful career
  as a teacher with the Houston Independent School District; she
  taught first grade for many years at Sanderson and Grimes
  Elementary Schools and was beloved by her students, many of whom
  continued to share their lives with her long after they left her
  classroom; she was a lifetime member of the Texas Retired
  Teachers Association and the Houston-Harris County Retired
  Teachers Association; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her beliefs in
  her daily life, she was a longtime and faithful member of Mount
  Moriah Baptist Church, and she was active in Mount Moriah's
  Mission I; her enduring wish was for her large and loving
  extended family to share in the happiness she received from her
  faith; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of grace, courage, and compassion, she
  gave unselfishly to others, and she will be long remembered for
  her wisdom, her warmth, and her enthusiasm for living each day to
  the fullest; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Thurma G. Rigmaiden; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Thurma Rigmaiden.
