SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 97
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Dr. Darrell Wesley Boren
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dr. Darrell Wesley
  Boren, who died January 9, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Darrell Boren was born on February 11, 1927, in
  Dallas; he grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from high school at
  the age of 16; Darrell served his country during World War II and
  later graduated from Texas Christian University; and
         WHEREAS, He earned his medical degree from The University
  of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1953 and became a highly
  respected family physician in Fort Worth; he went on to become
  certified in addictionology and served as medical director of
  CareUnit and Charlton Methodist Hospital's Addiction Unit until
  his retirement in 1996; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Boren was dedicated to his work as a physician
  and was committed to his volunteer work on behalf of citizens in
  the community; he was a devout member of the Masonic Lodge and the
  Moslah Temple Shrine; a longtime member of the Rotary Club of
  Western Fort Worth, he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for
  his years of outstanding service; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Dr. Boren was a generous,
  kindhearted person who was respected for his leadership in the
  community and for his exceptional accomplishments; he was
  devoted to his wife, Marti Boren, and to his children,
  grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Darrell Boren gave unselfishly of his time to
  others and was a source of wisdom and strength to many, and he
  will long be remembered with affection and appreciation by all
  who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Dr. Darrell Wesley Boren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Dr. Darrell Boren.
