SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 141
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Alejandro Lopez Calderon
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Alejandro "Alex" Lopez
  Calderon, who died January 22, 2013, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, Alex Calderon was born March 8, 1939, in Austin;
  he graduated from Austin High School and served with distinction
  for seven years as a member of the United States Marine Corps
  Reserve; and
         WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Mary Esther
  Hernandez, on July 22, 1961, and the couple raised three sons,
  Alex, Ray, and Mark, who were a source of much pride and joy and
  who blessed them with five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon established the Contessa Gallery and
  Frame Shop in 1969; he drew on his entrepreneurial spirit and his
  artistic sensibilities to make it an enduring success, and his
  sons are proudly carrying on the family business; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and kindness, he gave
  unselfishly to others; he was widely revered for his wisdom, his
  generous spirit, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
  fullest; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he
  leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his
  large and loving extended family and his countless friends; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Alejandro Lopez Calderon; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Alejandro Lopez Calderon.
