SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 154

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Houston Alumni Chapter of Prairie View A&M University on the occasion of its Annual Mardi Gras Scholarship Luncheon; and

WHEREAS, The Houston Alumni Chapter has been an active supporter of the university for many years, and one of its hallmark events is the Mardi Gras Scholarship Luncheon; the purpose of the luncheon is to recognize high-performing students for their hard work and many achievements and offer them encouragement for the challenges ahead; and

WHEREAS, The Houston Alumni Chapter promotes fellowship among the alumni, serves as a medium for supporting the university and its goals, and keeps alumni aware of the university's needs and plans; and

WHEREAS, The chapter has generously funded student scholarships, and the recipients are motivated future leaders who have been evaluated on academic achievement, leadership, and community service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Houston Alumni Chapter of Prairie View A&M University on its invaluable support to the university and extend best wishes and congratulations to all attending the Annual Mardi Gras Scholarship Luncheon; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this occasion.
