SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 155
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the members of Leadership Fort Worth, which recently
  celebrated 40 years of outstanding service to the city; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1972, the program brings together a
  diverse group of people to explore the challenges and successes
  of the community; Leadership Fort Worth is one of the oldest such
  leadership development programs in the country and now claims
  more than 1,700 members; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed organization was founded by Dr. James
  Moudy of Texas Christian University; its growth was hastened by Fort
  Worth Junior League member Tiny Batts, who galvanized a team of regional
  institutions to sponsor the group; and
         WHEREAS, Those two charter members would involve an
  extraordinarily active and varied body of citizens in the
  program; over the years, Leadership Fort Worth has expanded to
  include LeaderKids, which debuted in 1995 and focuses on middle
  school children, and Leading Edge, a program aimed at emerging
  community advocates between the ages of 25 and 35; and
         WHEREAS, In 1999, Leadership Fort Worth partnered with the
  Community Foundation to launch a five-year program called the
  Fort Worth Leaders Fund, which cultivates philanthropy in the
  city; and
         WHEREAS, This invaluable organization is widely respected
  for its good works and outreach projects in Fort Worth and is
  truly deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Fort Worth for its
  vital community service and extend to its members best wishes in
  future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
