SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 160

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Fort Worth Country Day School on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Fort Worth Country Day School opened its doors on September 9, 1963, with the mission of providing students a challenging college-preparatory education that would also allow them to excel in athletics and the arts; under the leadership of headmaster Peter A. Schwartz, the school quickly outgrew its original three buildings and expanded to meet the growing demand of an increasing enrollment; and

WHEREAS, Today, the school continues to foster the intellectual, physical, emotional, and ethical development of students, integrating a program that fuses the humanities, the sciences, the arts, athletics, and community service; and

WHEREAS, Fort Worth Country Day School works with such noted institutions of higher education as Duke University and Stanford University to enhance academic success and offer college credit coursework; it is one of only six schools in the country to be named a Malone Foundation School; and

WHEREAS, Fort Worth Country Day School has for 50 years helped young people become critical thinkers and leaders, and it is truly fitting that the school be recognized as it achieves this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of Fort Worth Country Day School on their commitment to excellence in education and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 50th anniversary celebration; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
