SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 164
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Word of Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Houston on |
|
|
the occasion of its 30th anniversary, which is being celebrated |
|
|
on February 17, 2013; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Word of Grace Missionary Baptist Church has its |
|
|
roots in the congregation of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church of |
|
|
Houston; founded on February 15, 1983, it emerged as a mission |
|
|
church, offering a specific focus on the expository style of |
|
|
preaching and Bible studies; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Artis |
|
|
Lovelady III and Assistant Pastor James O'Neal, the church's |
|
|
devoted congregation has supported many charitable endeavors; it |
|
|
provides funding for both local and overseas missions, including |
|
|
assistance for homeless persons in Houston and school supplies |
|
|
for children in Namibia; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Word |
|
|
of Grace Missionary Baptist Church reflects its congregation's |
|
|
enduring commitment to the Houston community and to the world |
|
|
beyond; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the church's clergy and |
|
|
members; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Word of Grace Missionary Baptist Church as an expression of |
|
|
esteem from the Texas Senate. |
