SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Round Rock Independent School District on the grand
  occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated
  throughout 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The Round Rock Independent School District was
  established on May 17, 1913; the first education classes were
  offered in 1914 and took place in a three-story building on West
  Anderson Avenue; and
         WHEREAS, Over the decades, numerous rural schools were
  consolidated into the district; today, the district consists of
  six high schools, 10 middle schools, 32 elementary schools, and
  three special centers; there are 5,990 staff members and 45,741
  students; and
         WHEREAS, The 51 schools in the Round Rock Independent
  School District are widely recognized as first-rate institutions
  with sound academic curriculums and well-disciplined,
  high-achieving students; and
         WHEREAS, The district has consistently aimed to provide
  resources, programs, and experiences that inspire excellence in
  student performance, and the students have been proud of the fine
  education they have received; and
         WHEREAS, Observance of the district's 100th anniversary is
  an opportunity for all who have attended its schools to express
  gratitude for the high standards the district upholds and the
  excellent educational opportunities it provides; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Round Rock Independent
  School District on its success and its many contributions to the
  Round Rock community and our state and extend best wishes to all
  associated with the school on its centennial year; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the district as an expression of high regard from the Texas
  Senate.
