SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Round Rock Independent School District on the grand |
|
|
occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated |
|
|
throughout 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Round Rock Independent School District was |
|
|
established on May 17, 1913; the first education classes were |
|
|
offered in 1914 and took place in a three-story building on West |
|
|
Anderson Avenue; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the decades, numerous rural schools were |
|
|
consolidated into the district; today, the district consists of |
|
|
six high schools, 10 middle schools, 32 elementary schools, and |
|
|
three special centers; there are 5,990 staff members and 45,741 |
|
|
students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 51 schools in the Round Rock Independent |
|
|
School District are widely recognized as first-rate institutions |
|
|
with sound academic curriculums and well-disciplined, |
|
|
high-achieving students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The district has consistently aimed to provide |
|
|
resources, programs, and experiences that inspire excellence in |
|
|
student performance, and the students have been proud of the fine |
|
|
education they have received; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Observance of the district's 100th anniversary is |
|
|
an opportunity for all who have attended its schools to express |
|
|
gratitude for the high standards the district upholds and the |
|
|
excellent educational opportunities it provides; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Round Rock Independent |
|
|
School District on its success and its many contributions to the |
|
|
Round Rock community and our state and extend best wishes to all |
|
|
associated with the school on its centennial year; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the district as an expression of high regard from the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
