SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 175
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Hebbronville in celebrating the city's 100th
  anniversary as the county seat of Jim Hogg County; and
 
         WHEREAS, Hebbronville was established in 1883 when the
  Texas-Mexican Railway Company built a line through the area; the
  company contacted local rancher James R. Hebbron, who arranged
  for the sale of land to create a new townsite; and
 
         WHEREAS, In 1913, Hebbronville became a part of the newly
  established Jim Hogg County; the town was chosen as the county
  seat in a unanimous vote, and the courthouse, school system, and
  Hebbronville State Bank were organized that same year; the town
  continued to grow in the ensuing years, adding such businesses as
  a theater, a hotel, grocery stores, and a newspaper; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, Hebbronville continues to thrive as a
  center of commerce and social activity for the people of Jim Hogg
  County; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Hebbronville are confidently
  facing the future while continuing to embrace their rich and
  colorful past; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Hebbronville on their
  many contributions to our state and extend to them best wishes for a
  memorable celebration of the city's 100th anniversary as the county
  seat of Jim Hogg County; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the city as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
