SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 178

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Saint Joseph Church Annual Festival and Cook-off Showdown as an official Texas State Barbecue Championship competition; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding event is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association and is being held at the site of the church's future Edinburg home; and

WHEREAS, The Saint Joseph Church Annual Festival and Cook-off Showdown features live entertainment, a children's carnival, and much more; all proceeds from this worthy event go to support the construction of the church's new facility; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and this special event is sure to provide superior cuisine to satisfy the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors and organizers of the Saint Joseph Church Annual Festival and Cook-off Showdown and extend to them best wishes for a successful and memorable event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion.
