SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 199
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Marvin E. Robinson, Sr., whose outstanding record of
  community service is being honored at the Dallas Black Dance
  Theatre Lasting Legacy Reception on February 17, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson is president and chief executive
  officer of Accommodations, Incorporated, a leading concession
  management company; he is a graduate of Southern University,
  where he was a standout track athlete and served as student body
  president; and
         WHEREAS, He went on to earn a degree from the Howard
  University School of Law before embarking on a distinguished
  professional career that has included positions with such varied
  employers as the Congress of Racial Equality, the Office of
  Economic Opportunity, the National Labor Relations Board, the
  Winston A. Burnett Construction Company, the Interracial Council
  for Business Opportunity, and Xerox Corporation; and
         WHEREAS, He owned and operated a Burger King franchise
  before becoming president of Accommodations, Incorporated, in
  1988 and purchasing the company seven years later; and
         WHEREAS, During the days of school desegregation, Mr.
  Robinson played an important role in the development of a high
  school specializing in business and management; among the
  numerous organizations on whose boards he has served are the
  Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the National Association for
  the Advancement of Colored People, the Dallas County Salvation
  Army, and the Southern Dallas Development Plan; he was named
  chairman emeritus of Dallas Black Dance Theatre after having led
  the organization's board for 20 years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson has had a profound impact on the
  lives of countless people, and it is truly fitting that he be
  recognized for his many contributions to his community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Marvin E. Robinson, Sr., on his many
  outstanding achievements and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
