        |  | J. W. Mack | 
      
        |  | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | 
      
        |  | commemorates the life of J. W. Mack, who died January 17, 2013, at | 
      
        |  | the age of 66; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, J. W. Mack was born April 2, 1946, in Trinity; | 
      
        |  | after his 1964 graduation from Trinity High School, he enlisted | 
      
        |  | in the United States Army and served the country with | 
      
        |  | distinction, including three years in Vietnam; upon his return | 
      
        |  | from military service, he attended Texas Southern University and | 
      
        |  | earned a bachelor's degree; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, He was married for many years to his wife, Holly, | 
      
        |  | and the couple was blessed with a son, Robert, who was a source of | 
      
        |  | much pride and joy; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Mr. Mack enjoyed a fulfilling, 40-year career | 
      
        |  | with Southwestern Bell, where he held a variety of important | 
      
        |  | positions, including manager of training and education, senior | 
      
        |  | design consultant, and area manager for engineering design; he | 
      
        |  | was noted for his dedication and perseverance and never took a | 
      
        |  | day of sick leave; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, He was active in numerous professional and civic | 
      
        |  | organizations, including Trinity Heights Concerned Citizens, the | 
      
        |  | Rotary Club of Arlington, and the Southwestern Bell Pioneers; he | 
      
        |  | has been inducted into the Texas Southern University Hall of | 
      
        |  | Fame; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | 
      
        |  | gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his humility, and his | 
      
        |  | enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be | 
      
        |  | forgotten; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves | 
      
        |  | behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and | 
      
        |  | many friends; now, therefore, be it | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | 
      
        |  | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | 
      
        |  | family of J. W. Mack; and, be it further | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | 
      
        |  | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | 
      
        |  | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | 
      
        |  | memory of J. W. Mack. |
