SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 233
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Texas Apartment Association on the occasion of its |
|
|
50th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association traces its origins to 1963, when |
|
|
individuals from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin came |
|
|
together and created an organization for rental housing owners to |
|
|
advocate for fair legislation, to promote professionalism within |
|
|
the industry, and to communicate issues of importance to its |
|
|
members; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association has worked with the legislature |
|
|
to craft laws that protect the interests of renters and property |
|
|
owners alike; concerns over such issues as security deposits, |
|
|
habitability standards, ownership disclosures, pool yard |
|
|
enclosures, and smoke detectors have been addressed by |
|
|
legislation promoted by the association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Among the practices established by the |
|
|
association that have become industry standards across the |
|
|
country are standardized lease contract forms and certification |
|
|
programs for apartment managers, maintenance staff, and leasing |
|
|
professionals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Apartment Association has played a |
|
|
pivotal role in fostering consistent, fair, legal, and |
|
|
predictable standards of operation for rental properties across |
|
|
the state, and it is truly fitting that this exceptional |
|
|
organization be recognized as it achieves this milestone in its |
|
|
history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Apartment Association on |
|
|
its outstanding efforts in promoting professionalism in the |
|
|
housing industry and extend to its members best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable 50th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
