SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 239
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club for its exemplary
  efforts to get people involved in the political process; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Pachyderm Club is a chapter of
  the National Federation of Pachyderm Clubs and an official allied
  organization of the Republican National Committee; and
 
         WHEREAS, The club was founded to provide a practical means
  for broad citizen participation in politics, to facilitate
  political education and the dissemination of information on the
  political system, and to promote the development of political
  leaders; and
 
         WHEREAS, The club's members and guests meet each week to hear
  presentations from such civic leaders as elected officials,
  candidates for office, and governmental agency directors; in order
  to provide equal treatment, the club does not endorse candidates in
  primary elections or take any action that might influence the
  party's selection of candidates; and
 
         WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has provided outstanding
  leadership in the quest to improve government through citizen
  participation, and it is truly deserving of recognition; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club
  on its efforts to promote citizen participation in politics and
  extend to its members best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the club as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
