SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 263
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  recognizing the Austin Community Foundation on the occasion of
  its 35th anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Established in 1977 with a $30,000 gift from Fanny
  Gray Leo, this geographically focused philanthropic organization
  promotes charitable giving in the Austin area by connecting
  interested donors with worthy recipients; since it was created,
  the Austin Community Foundation has helped fund many deserving
  projects, and today it has more than $100 million in assets and
  manages almost 1,000 charitable funds created by individuals,
  families, and organizations; and
 
         WHEREAS, The foundation makes investments, monitors them,
  and pays grants from their earnings; this administrative bridge
  enables donors to support specific institutions and causes close
  to home; it also directs and disperses general gifts from donors
  to charitable causes throughout the Austin community; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Austin Community Foundation has been an
  invaluable asset to the region through its promotion of
  philanthropy and good works; it has helped to make Austin a place
  of prosperity, opportunity, and beauty; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Austin Community Foundation on
  the occasion of its 35th anniversary and extend to it best wishes
  in all its future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
  foundation as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
