SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 273

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing India House Houston on the occasion of the center's fund-raising gala on February 23, 2013; and

WHEREAS, This non-religious and apolitical nonprofit organization is a vibrant thread in the cultural fabric of Houston; the city is already home to a vital population of Indian Americans, and that population is quickly expanding; and

WHEREAS, Created to unite the Indian community and promote diversity within greater Houston by providing a comprehensive set of social, cultural, recreational, and community programs, this thriving organization also works to create a bridge to the community at large and raise awareness about Indian culture and values; and

WHEREAS, Among the current offerings from India House are social services, community development programs, cultural and arts events, and educational classes; and

WHEREAS, This illustrious group also strives to provide unique insights into India through social functions and events that highlight the best and brightest of this unique culture; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend India House Houston on the organization's valuable contributions to the community and extend best wishes for a successful 2013 fund-raising gala; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for India House Houston as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
