SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 274

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the City of Graham and the Graham Chamber of Commerce as they celebrate Graham Day at the State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, A hospitable rural town in North Texas, Graham holds a unique appeal for families and lovers of the outdoors; Lake Graham provides a refreshing and safe water supply, and the town's proximity to Possum Kingdom Lake makes for exciting recreational outings; and

WHEREAS, This growing community of almost 9,000 residents is known for its petroleum industry; in support of that sector, the local branch of the North Central Texas Community College recently introduced a new curriculum in oil and gas technology; and

WHEREAS, The town of Graham has a progressive city council that is investing in water treatment and distribution projects and hospital technology and is supportive of the arts; residents are enthusiastically focusing resources on the renovation of the town's historic auditorium; and

WHEREAS, An idyllic location for raising a family and a wholesome destination for visitors, Graham boasts low crime rates, a respected school system, and an outstanding city-owned hospital; its residents and civic leaders are deserving of praise for creating a safe and welcoming community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby welcome the delegates of the City of Graham and the Graham Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of Graham Day at the State Capitol and extend to them best wishes in all their future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
