SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 286
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Dimmit County and Texans across the state in
  celebrating March 6, 2013, as Dimmit County Day at the State
  Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Situated in southwest Texas near the Mexican
  border, Dimmit County has been the site of human settlement for
  more than 11,000 years; early settlers were drawn by the numerous
  springs that flowed in the area; and
         WHEREAS, Dimmit County was organized in 1858; it was named
  for a hero of the Texas Revolution, and Carrizo Springs became
  the county seat; and
         WHEREAS, Dimmit County is known for its location on the Old
  San Antonio Road, a trail and historical landmark that led many
  early Texans, including Moses Austin and Stephen F. Austin,
  through Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Dimmit County is home to an abundance of natural
  resources, including oil and gas, which contribute to the wealth
  and well-being of all Texans; and
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Dimmit County are rightly proud of
  its distinguished history and the many contributions its people
  have made to the growth and progress of our state; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Dimmit County
  on their many contributions to our state and extend to them a
  sincere welcome to Austin as they celebrate Dimmit County Day at
  the State Capitol; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
