SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 299
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the 2012 Team Texas youth baseball team on its |
|
|
outstanding success at the country's largest youth baseball |
|
|
tournament, which was held at Dreams Park in Cooperstown, New York, |
|
|
in August of 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Team Texas is made up of players from Houston, |
|
|
Huffman, Kingwood, Liberty, Lubbock, Plainview, Porter, and |
|
|
Shepherd; these young athletes, aged 12 and 13 years old, |
|
|
placed fifth in a field of 104 teams from across the country, |
|
|
finishing the tournament with a record of 8-1 and a team batting |
|
|
average of .546; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The team represented Texas with honor as they |
|
|
proudly carried the state's flag in the tournament's opening |
|
|
ceremony, and they were awarded a ring and inducted into the |
|
|
American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame; team members Jonas Garcia, |
|
|
Carson Hauk, Will Johnson, Trey Keel, Coon Lee, Martin Marcian, |
|
|
Lane McMaster, Tate McMillan, Noah Pendergrass, Konner Raymond, |
|
|
Reese Rodriguez, and Christian Rusk can all take great pride in |
|
|
their outstanding performance; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|
|
coaches Mark Johnson and Jarrod McMillan, Team Texas developed |
|
|
exceptional teamwork and discipline; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are proud of the members of Team |
|
|
Texas for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their |
|
|
fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Team Texas on its successful tournament |
|
|
appearance and extend to team members and coaches best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
