SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 300

Harold Cryar |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Conroe in mourning the loss of noted educator Harold |
|
Cryar, who died January 19, 2013, at the age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, Harold Cryar was born August 9, 1925, in Honey |
|
Island; he attended Conroe High School, where he was a standout |
|
receiver on the football team; he served in the United States |
|
Navy during World War II and earned bachelor's and master's |
|
degrees from Sam Houston State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cryar served the people of Conroe with |
|
distinction for more than four decades as a teacher, coach, |
|
principal, assistant superintendent, and member of the board of |
|
trustees with the Conroe Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, he had a profound impact on the |
|
lives of his students, instilling in them a sense of pride and a |
|
lifelong love of learning; in recognition of his dedication and |
|
his many achievements, the district named the Harold Cryar |
|
Intermediate School in his honor in 2004; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cryar was active in community affairs and |
|
served as a member of the boards of Rotary International and the |
|
Conroe Symphony Orchestra; a devout Christian who practiced his |
|
faith in his daily life, he was a member of the First Methodist |
|
Church of Conroe, and he coauthored a history of the church; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of vision, strength, and compassion, he gave |
|
unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and |
|
his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be |
|
forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves |
|
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and |
|
countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the |
|
bereaved family of Harold Cryar; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Harold Cryar. |
