SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 300
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Harold Cryar
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Conroe in mourning the loss of noted educator Harold
  Cryar, who died January 19, 2013, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Harold Cryar was born August 9, 1925, in Honey
  Island; he attended Conroe High School, where he was a standout
  receiver on the football team; he served in the United States
  Navy during World War II and earned bachelor's and master's
  degrees from Sam Houston State University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cryar served the people of Conroe with
  distinction for more than four decades as a teacher, coach,
  principal, assistant superintendent, and member of the board of
  trustees with the Conroe Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, he had a profound impact on the
  lives of his students, instilling in them a sense of pride and a
  lifelong love of learning; in recognition of his dedication and
  his many achievements, the district named the Harold Cryar
  Intermediate School in his honor in 2004; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cryar was active in community affairs and
  served as a member of the boards of Rotary International and the
  Conroe Symphony Orchestra; a devout Christian who practiced his
  faith in his daily life, he was a member of the First Methodist
  Church of Conroe, and he coauthored a history of the church; and
         WHEREAS, A man of vision, strength, and compassion, he gave
  unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and
  his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
  forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
  countless friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Harold Cryar; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Harold Cryar.
