SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 308
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
join the members of the Texas FFA Association and Texans across |
|
|
the state in celebrating February 26, 2013, as Texas FFA Day at |
|
|
the Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In its 96 years of teaching knowledge and skills |
|
|
related to agriculture, food, and natural resources, |
|
|
agricultural education has made a significant contribution to |
|
|
agriculture and the overall economy of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In its 85 years of fostering citizenship and |
|
|
leadership in Texas schools, FFA has produced many outstanding |
|
|
community, state, and national leaders of industry, education, |
|
|
and government; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas FFA Day at the Capitol celebrates the many |
|
|
contributions this exceptional organization has made to |
|
|
agricultural education and to career and technical education |
|
|
across our state and nation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With more than 93,000 members, the Texas FFA |
|
|
Association is the largest organization of its kind in the |
|
|
country; members are led by an elected group of state officers |
|
|
who represent one of the 10 FFA areas in the state; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association presents more than $2 |
|
|
million annually in academic and award scholarships to deserving |
|
|
members who are achieving academic excellence and career |
|
|
readiness; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, More than 120,000 students are enrolled in |
|
|
agricultural education courses in Texas, and the Texas FFA |
|
|
Association plays an important role in helping them achieve |
|
|
success; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby welcome the members, advisors, and guests of |
|
|
the Texas FFA Association and extend to them best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable Texas FFA Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special day. |
