SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 322
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Robert Sneed Davie
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Robert Sneed
  Davie, who died February 8, 2013, at the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, This tireless public servant and war veteran was
  born January 12, 1919, in Elmore City, Oklahoma; he grew up in
  Carter County, Oklahoma, and graduated from Healdton High
  School; he attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he
  earned both a history degree and a law degree; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Davie served his country as an artillery
  spotter during World War II; he saw combat in the Philippines and
  South Korea and was awarded a Purple Heart; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Davie worked as a prosecutor in
  Scurry and Dallas Counties before moving his family to
  Washington, D.C., in 1957; he worked for the Indian Claims
  Commission and returned to Texas in 1964 to accept an appointment
  as a hearings examiner with the Fort Worth office of the Social
  Security Administration; he eventually became an administrative
  law judge; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished gentleman was also a man of
  faith, and he gave generously of his time; he was a teacher and
  president of his Sunday school class at First United Methodist
  Church in Fort Worth, and he was active in Kiwanis, Golden K, and
  the Tarrant Alliance for the Mentally Ill; and
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and wisdom,
  Mr. Davie was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that
  will be cherished forever; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Robert Sneed Davie; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Robert Sneed Davie.
