SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 335

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Hector J. Cerna, who has been named the 2012 Citizen of the Year by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cerna is president and chief executive officer of the Eagle Pass branch of the International Bank of Commerce; he has been an executive in the banking industry in South Texas for more than 20 years; in addition to banking, his areas of expertise include real estate development, finance, and business venture management; and

WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the International Bank of Commerce has prospered in Eagle Pass; he has brought to his work at the bank a keen understanding of the needs, aspirations, and potential of the region's people and a knowledge of the area's businesses; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Cerna has been active in numerous professional and civic organizations; he is currently chair of the Eagle Pass Hotel-Motel Room Tax Committee and a director of the Maverick County Development Corporation board; he has served as president of the Eagle Pass Rotary Club and as a council member for Our Lady of Refuge School; and

WHEREAS, Hector Cerna has had a positive impact on the growth and progress of the Eagle Pass community, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Hector J. Cerna on his achievements and his many contributions to the Eagle Pass community and extend congratulations to him on earning the title of 2012 Citizen of the Year; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
