SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 346
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Brewster County and Texans across the state
  in celebrating March 6, 2013, as Brewster County Day at the State
  Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, Situated in West Texas along the Mexican border,
  Brewster County has been the site of human settlement for more
  than 9,000 years; and
 
         WHEREAS, Brewster County was organized in 1887 and was
  named for Henry Brewster, who fought in the Texas Revolution at
  the Battle of San Jacinto; Alpine became the county seat; and
 
         WHEREAS, Brewster County is the home of Big Bend National
  Park, a natural landmark consisting of over 800,000 acres of
  scenic canyons, deserts, and mountains and containing a great
  diversity of wildlife; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Brewster County are rightly proud
  of its distinguished history and the many contributions its
  people have made to the growth and progress of our state; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Brewster County on
  their many contributions to our state and extend to them a
  sincere welcome to Austin as they celebrate Brewster County Day
  at the State Capitol; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
